Appreciative inquiry Summits
Appreciative inquiry Summits are multi-day large events designed to bring people together to agree on changes that are needed in the community or organization. The summits last from two to five days and have between 100 and 250 people.
Flat organizational structure
Flat organizational structure has few or no levels of management between management and staff level employees. There is less supervision and employees have increased involvement in the decision-making process. Flat organizations tend to produce a lot of generalists but no specialists
Planning Agency organizational models
There are different organizational models used in planning agencies. Some are grouped by management vs. current planning vs. advance or long-range planning. Other grouping themes are subject areas (e.g., transportation, housing) vs. functional approach (e.g., planning, regulations, information systems, investment, policy).
Tokenism
Tokenism refers to public participation that is insincere and for which the participation by the public will not have any bearing on the outcome
Procedural due process
Procedural due process is covered under the Fourteenth Amendment and provides protection against unfair process where an individual’s life, liberty, or property is concerned. States require open meetings in order to provide the opportunity for the public to be informed.
Who to report AICP ethics violations to
The ethics officer is the executive director of APA/AICP. According to the AICP Code of Ethics, a violation should be reported to the AICP Ethics Officer.
Site Review Purpose
The general purposes of site plan review are to protect the health, safety, convenience, and welfare of the inhabitants of the community by providing a comprehensive review of land use and development plans on a site by site basis.
Hoshin
Hoshin Kanri is a method for ensuring that the strategic goals drive progress and action at every level within that organization. The process includes establishing a vision, developing objectives, deploy annual objectives, implement objectives, and then review progress on a monthly and annual basis.
Multi-attribute Utility Analysis
Multi-attribute Utility Analysis allows for weighting of a series of values dimensions. For example, participants are given a number of points that can be allocated between the value dimensions or participants can be asked which of two values is more important.
