USS Forrestal Fire

A

⁃ July 29, 1967
⁃ The attack aircraft carrier was fighting a massive flight deck fire. One of the bombs on the flight deck exploded and caused a chain reaction of explosions killing 134 men and almost destroyed the ship. It also changed the way the Navy handles damage control.
