If I bought a pair of boots that were $199.99 but were 60% off plus 13% sales tax, how much would my boots cost?
Step 1) Take the price and multiply it by your discount in decimal form
199.99 x 0.60= 119.99 (Discount)
Step 2) Subtract the regular price from the discount amount you saved
199.99-119.99= 80 (Sales Price)
Step 3) Take your sales price and multiply it by 1.13 to find the 13% sales tax
80x 1.13= $90.40
Therfore I would pay $90.40
How do you check a soloution once its solved?
Take your answer and substitute the values found in your answer. Both sides of the equal sign should be the same/ equal.
