ESSAY There Is No Other Means Of Salvation Than Christ Flashcards
Intro
Many views held by exclusivists, inclusivists
Paragraph 1
Only through Christ - Exclusivist view:
There is no other means to salvation than through Jesus
Jesus coming to earth is different than any other religion and should be taken seriously
You should not hide away in your faith and not reach a compromise but be solid in your belief
HOWEVER this requires revealed theology
Can be argued that Jesus coming was out of love and with this love we must look after non-Christians
Paragraph 2
Views is supported by an Inclusivist view:
All those who seek God may be accepted as anonymous Christians
Christianity is the normative way to salvation but other religions may contain elements of truth
Only God knows who will be saved, we can never know and make a definitive decision
Links and is in keeping with biblical teaching (sheep and goats)
HOWEVER from an exclusivist view it can be argued that a serious question of who will be saved and not should have a definitive answer and that we should not rely on love alone
This is not a good counter argument as we will never know God therefore it is not our place to make a decision on who will be saved and what God will do
We need God if we have heard and know of him but if not following a life similar to Christians/ good life is enough (good works as well with our faith)
Conclusion
There are other means to salvation (main focus on Christ but not the only way)
