The Deputy Will

  2. If known, direction of travel, location or route followed and if in pursuit
  3. Circumstances surrounding escape, how it was accomplished, etc.
  4. Provide a physical description of escapee and name if known

AFTER Notification, the detecting Deputy will:

  1. Secure proper identiciaion of inmate(s) in conjunction with control room personnel
  2. Establish area as a crime scene
  3. Allow only authoirized personnel in the area
  4. Start a log of everyone’s name and the time they entered and exited the scene
  5. When scene is cleared, turn log over to the shift supervisor

Control Room personnel will:

A
  1. If applicable, notify desiganted main control center of escape giving the inmates name, docket number and housing location
  2. Repeate readio call of inamte escape and pertinatne information across the other radio channels
  3. Obtain identification of inmate(s) in conjunction with on-scene staff and pull the movement sheet
  4. Print an inmate roster from JIMS
  5. Maintain control room log, showing the time notified of escape, all notifications and everyone etnering and leaving area
  6. secure inmate phones
  7. Have a hard copy of the inmate roster available to shift supervisor and floor staff

Shift Supervisor will:

A
  1. Respond to the area calling for additional staff memebers to assist
  2. Lock wing down, iniaite head count, and secure floor of all non-essential personnel
  3. Confirm escape and notify Shift Commander
  4. Ensure perimeter unit has been notified
  5. Confirm inmate’s identification
  6. Assign additional staff to: - control room - floor lock-down and head count - crime scene prevention
  7. After the scene has been cleared: - release crime scene deputy - release non-essential personnel to return to their post - if damaged, place the area offline until repaired
  8. Debrief staff, have those involved complete reports and obtain and ACISS report number
  9. Review, and forwared reports to Shift Commander with crime scene log and phots

The Affected Shift Commander will:

A
  1. Activate the escape siren
  2. Notify: - Affected Division Commander - Inmate Records Shift Supervisor - DIU - Comm Division - Tactical Investigations Commander or IOB Commander - Professioanl Standards Bureau - Forensice Science Division - AFIS - Classificaiton for cumulative classifcation information - Inmate Records Manager (notifies: Judge, State Attorney’s Office and Victims)
  3. When instructed by Division Commander - Coordinate the reversal of lockdown - relive security posts established during incident and debreif staff
  4. Submit a written report to the affected Division Commander

  2. If it is a Federal Prisoner, notify the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), U.S. Marshal’s Offic, FBI Office (Clearwater or Tampa)
