Rock fragments become embedded into the glacier grind over the bedrock and valley sides. Finer material smooths the bottom of the glacier. Rocks within the glacier break down to make rock flour

Occurs as a result of pressure melting point and obstacles in the path of the glacier. The glacier freezes around loose rock and pulls it out as the ice moves

What is rotational movement?

Causes the bedrock to be scoured. Most common in environments where temps fluctuate above and below freezing. This promotes freeze thaw at the base and therefore increases the scouring process
