Trust
Views and expectations that infants develop about the world-safe, caring and predictable
Mistrust
An individual’s sense of the world as unreliable and unpredictable
Autonomy
The ability to do things independently and the feelings of self-control, self-confidence, self-reliance and competence
Shame and doubt
And individual’s sense of humiliation and embarrassment and lack of belief in capabilities
Initiative
Being able to plan, think for oneself and carry out various kinds of activities with purpose
Guilt
A negative feeling formed by an individual when something they have done or want to do is considered “wrong”
Industry
The sense of being busy, productive and a competent worker
Inferiority
An individual’s feelings of being less adequate than others in their achievements, skills and abilities
Identity
Overall image an individual has of themselves
Role confusion
A sense of not knowing who they are, where they belong, to whom they belong or where they are headed in life
Intimacy
Ability to share with and care about another person without fear of losing oneself in the process
Isolation
Sense of being alone without anyone to share one’s life with or care for.
Generativity
A person’s concern with other’s beyond their immediate family
Stagnation
Boredom, inactivity, too much concern with personal needs and comforts and a lack of personal growth.
Integrity
A sense of satisfaction with one’s achievement in life and a belief that all that happened in life has been meaningful
