Inability to attain or sustain an erection satisfactory for sexual intercourse

What are some of the treatment options available to treat ED?
PO phosphodiesterase inhibitors, intraurethral or intra-cavernosal prostaglandins, vaccum erection devices, surgical implants

DM
HTN
Hypercholesterolemia
ASCVD
S/p prostate cancer treatment
Depression
What are the psychological causes behind erectile dysfunction?
Anxiety
Guilt
Depression
Relationship conflicts or distress
What are the most common vascular causes of ED?
Atherosclerosis of cavernous arteries of penis
What labs will be ordered to work-up ED?
- Morning testosterone level, if low or low-normal, prolactin and LH
What is the first-line treatment for ED?
Oral phosphodiesterase inhibitor
What is the definition of male infertility?
Inability of a couple to conceive a child after a year of unprotected intercourse
Unless female partner is over the age of 35, then work-up should start after 6 months
What labs should be worked up as part of male infertility?
- Semen analysis x2
- Sperm count
- Semen volume
- Motility
- Morphology
- Testosterone and FSH
How is oligospermia defined?
< 20 million sperm/ml
How is azoospermia defined?
No sperm
What genetic conditions can cause male infertility?
Y chromosome deletions
Klinefelter’s

When do you correct a varacile?
- Infertility
- Extreme related pain
