1
Q

what is erasure cycle efficiency

A

to check for any ghosting i.e. residual image which may remain on image receptor after readout and erasure

Q

erasure cycle efficiency setup

A
  • ensure tube and table are level
  • centre tube to image receptor using 100cm
  • open collimation to cover entire receptor
  • cover half the plate with lead gown
  • exposure using 80kVp and 25mAs
    -process image
  • repeat steps 1-3 with erased receptor
  • exposure using 80kVp and 0.5mAs
  • expose
  • if any residual image is visible then ROI analysis can be used to quantify difference between ghosted and unghosted areas

Q

evaluating results of erasure efficiency test

A

ROI can quantify difference of ghosted and un-ghosted regions
- values can be passed onto MPE that can calculate STP (system transfer properties) values
