equillbria, le chateliers principle and kc Flashcards
what is dynamic equillibrium
forward and reverse reactions proceed at equal rates
the concentrations of reactants and products remain constant
state le chatieliers principle
when a system is subject to change, the system will alter to lessen the effect of that change
use le chatiliers principle to predict effects of increases in temp on the position of equilibrium in homogenous reactions
increased temp favours endothermic reaction (+ enethlpy change)as the heat needs to be removed from the system to lessen effect of intial increase, will increase yield of the endothermic products
use le chatiliers principle to predict effects of increses in pressure on the position of equilibrium in homogenous reactions
increasing pressure favours side of reaction wit fewer moles as it will help to release the build up in pressure, yeild of prodcuts on this side of reaction incresed
use le chatiliers principle to predict effects of increasesin conc on the position of equilibrium in homogenous reactions
increasing cocnetration of reactants will favour the reaction producing the products as more molecules availble to react , will increases yield pf products
use le chatiliers principle to predict effects of catalyst on the position of equilibrium in homogenous reactions
no effect as increases rate of reaction equally on both sides
explain why for a reversible reaction used in industrial process a compromised temperature or pressure may be used
lower pressures and higher temperature than would give the maxiumum conversion as:
higher pressures would be too expensive
higher temp gives a good yield in a faster time
effect of changes in conc or pressure, addition of catalyst and temp on value of Kc
conc, pressure and catalyst has no effext on Kc value
temperature changes Kc value
