general myclonic
teratogenic, fatal fulminant hepatitis
Lamotrigine
Na Channel Blocker:
partial seizure
rashes and steven johnson
Phenobarbital
GABA-A enhancer, inhibit Na, Ca and Glutamate
1st line febrile seizures then partial and tonic clonic
induce P450, tolerance, sedation
Clonazepam
GABA-A
Benzodiazepine, myoclonic or absence
drowsiness
Diazpepam and Lorazepam
BDZ
status epilepticus
Tiagabine
Inhibit GABA uptake = adjunct for partial
Ethosuximide
T-type Ca Channel blocker
uncomplicated absence

Topiramate

risk: kidney stone, decrease vision, cognition affects
Levetiracetam

Gabapentin

neuropathic pain use
Drug Therapy for Status Epilepticus
1) Lorazepam
2) Phenytoin
3) Additional phenytoin
4) Phenobarbital
5) Complete anesthesia
