EOMs ductions (M1) Flashcards
define duction
movements of one eye
Fick’s axes
x-axis: horizontal/transverse
- supraduction
- infraduction
y-axis: sagittal/visual
- incyloduction (intorsion)
- excycloduction (extorsion)
z-axis: vertical acix
- adduction
- abduction
what happens to rotation if the course of a muscle is parallel to an axis
no rotation around that axis
what happens to rotation if the course of a muscle is perpendicular to an axis
only rotation for that muscle is around that axis
what are muscle movements based on
movement of muscle from its insertion towards its origin
actions from primary gaze - medial rectus
perpendicular to vertical axis (z-axis).
ADducts the eye
actions from primary gaze - lateral rectus
perpendicular to vertical axis (z-axis).
ABducts the eye
actions from primary gaze - superior rectus
forms 23 degree angle with visual axis (Y-axis, sagittal axis).
supraducts the eye
actions from primary gaze - inferior rectus
forms 23 degree angle with visual axis (y-axis, sagittal axis).
infraducts the eye
actions from primary gaze - superior oblique
forms 55 degree angle with visual axis (y-axis, sagittal axis).
intorts the eye
actions from primary gaze - inferior oblique
forms 51 degree angle with visual axis (y-axis, sagittal axis).
extorts the eye
define versions
movement of both eyes in the same direction
define vergences
movement of both in opposite directions
