Q

Lock and key hypothesis (3 marker)

A
  • Enzyme binds to substrate because they are complementary
  • so the substrate is broken down into products
  • so products are released or enzyme is not changes

Q

Facts about enzymes

A

-They aren’t used up in reactions so they can be reused
-They speed up chemical traction within the body and are often called biological catalysts
-Enzymes are specific to one chemical reaction and won’t work with different substrates
-They are made from protein by ribosomes inside cells

Q

Why do enzymes have to be secreted by glands

A

Food molecules are outside of cells
- Enzymes are made in cells by ribosomal
- Therfore enzymes must be secreted out of glands onto food
