Q

How does temperature effect performance

A

TTE can decrease if too low or too high. 11c sweet spot.

Q

What did Garrett et al., 2014 suggest about acclimation during EU-hydration or dehydration ?

A

Acclimation during dehydration led to grater aldosterone response, indicating that blood volume may be open to greater expansion.

Q

How does carbohydrate utilization response to changed in temperature, and what could be some mechanism of this ?

A

At rest cold increases and hot decreases

During exercise increases in hot and decreases in cold.

Causes for this might be
Reduced blood flow to muscles
Muscle fibre recruitment
Temperature effect on metabolism
Augmented sympatho-adrenal response

Q

Within cold weather what is a consideration for fluid balance ?

A

sweat rates from 25c compared to 5c are not hugely different. However, fluid intakes are significantly lower and can actually lead to the greatest amount of dehydration even compared to exercise above 30c.
