Arranging–multiple materials without being cluttered. Additional toys in view but out of reach. Add ons in containers that need opening
Managing–gatekeeper, place self between child and materials. Add in materials as child loses interest, mix toys usually don’t go together. Ensure enough materials ot turn take. Promote routines.
What does modeling in enhanced milieu teaching approach entail?
Establish joint attention, present verbal model. If correct: acknowledge with expansion and material. If incorrect: give another model. If incorrect again, give another model and give child the material.
What does the mand-model portion of milieu teaching prompts include?
Establish joint attention. Present verbal mand/question. If correct, respond with expansion and material. If incorrect, give another mand or model. If correct, see previous response. If incorrect, State correct response and give child the material.
Describe the incidental teaching portion the enhanced milieu teaching?
Arrange environment to encourage requests. Wait for child to initiate request. Respond using model, mand-model, or time delay depending on level of support child needs
