Criterion referenced, measures intentional communication. Videotape parent w/ child for 45 minutes (Vigil does videotape for 15 minutes w/ clinician)
What are some procedures for CII?
Close proximity, recent physical proximity, recent gestural/vocal or verbal prompt, child gazes within 3 seconds of an intention, assign behaviors to 1 intention, repeats don’t count. Must be intention, in shared activities
What ways are the to measure scores for the CII?
How many used out of those given, or how many the child accurately does per minute
What does paul say is a normal frequency of intentions by 24 months?
5-7 intentions
What is joint attention
interactant and child attending to the same activity (think eye gaze)
What behaviors should be recognized during CII?
social-affective communication, communicative function, sophistication of communication needs(do they make them known?), rate of communication, repair, capacity to symbolize
What communicative intentions are examined in CII?
comment on: action, object.
Request for: action, object, information
Answering, acknowledging, protesting.
