Engine Starting Systems Flashcards
1
Q
Dry start
A
No light up within 10 secs after opening fuel valve
No egt rise, rpm, stagnation and ff
Does not require any other procedures before stating again
2
Q
Wet start
A
No light up within 10secs after opening fuel valve
No egt rise, rpm, stagnation, abnormal ff
Due to faulty ignition/plug
Vapour must be removed to avoid a subsequent hot start
3
Q
Hot start
A
Egt is excessively high and exceeds max value
Causes - low air pressure to the starter, failure to vent and drain following a wet start
Start cycle needs to be terminated
4
Q
Hung start
A
Rpm stagnates below idle with high egt
Causes - fuel control malfunction, low air pressure to starter motor, compressor stall
Shut down engine
