REVERSER LIGHTS
A
[1sp: what does this mean if you get this light on landing?
There is a disagreement between the reverser and the position of the lever.]
- this light is controlled by the EAU (engine accessory unit)
-
Illuminated (AMBER):
- comes on when thrust reverser is commanded to STOW (goes out 10 seconds later when reverser sleeves are fully stowed and isolation valve is closed
- if it is on for > 12 seconds - a malfunction has occured (MC and ENG lts illuminate)
- if it is on at any other time - a malfunction has occured

comes on when ANY of the following Thrust Rev systems don’t work correctly during stow or deploy
- 1 or more reverser sleeves are not in commanded position (stow or lock) [2 prox sensors / sleeve]
- failure in the sync lock circuit
- DCV (directional control valve) or HIV (hyd isolation valve) not in commanded position
- auto restow circuit has been activated

ENGINE CONTROL LIGHT
A
(1sp: what does it mean if light comes on?
A: there is a problem with the engine contol systems - no go item)

Illuminated (AMBER):
- Engine control system IS NOT DISPATCHABLE due to faults in system

Operated when:
- Engine operating on the ground and:
- either below 80 kts (prior to takeoff) or
- approx 30 seconds AFTER touchdown
- Engine operating on the ground and:
- if there is an issue inflight - there is NO crew notification
- *** if you shut down the engine - the EEC fault is stored in the EEC BITE and will NOT illuminate on recall and if the engine is restarted (or next flight) it WILL NOT register this fault unless a new fault occurs (in other words - there is no indication that this fault occured on a previous flight)

EEC Switch & ALTERNATE MODES
- 3 indications -

ON: (white - illuminated)
- normal mode selected meaning that engine ratings are calculated from sensed atmospheric conditions and bleed air demand

ON: (not illuminated - BUT ALTN light (AMBER) in view)
- EEC has been manually selected to the ALTERNATE mode (HARD ALT)

ALTN: (Amber - illuminated)
- EEC in ALT mode - switched automatically or manually
- this light tells you that EEC is providing the rated thrust OR HIGHER

ON & ALTN (Illuminated together) - EEC has automatically switched to SOFT ALT mode
- Soft Mode: uses current conditions and thrust can be LESS or MORE
Info:
- alt modes are sued when the EEC does not recieve valid total air press data from BOTH ADIRUs or when crew manually selects it
- if one EEC is in normal and the other in ALT could cause staggered thrust levers
- ** EGT LIMITS must be observed in both NORMAL and ALT Control modes
- *** FCOM LIMITATIONS FOR THIS - SPECIFICALLY FOR TAKEOFF ***

ALTERNATE MODES

Hard Mode: occurs when EITHER
- when EEC is in soft mode > 15 sec and thrust levers moved to IDLE
- EEC switch is in the OFF position
- * if option #1 selected - ON & ALTN lights will STILL REMAIN ON even in HARD ALT
- this mode is ALWAYS EQUAL to or GREATER than normal mode thrust position
- to RETURN to NORMAL from HARD MODE:
- EEC switch back to ON (valid ADIRU data) OR
- Engine is shut down and restarted (with valide ADIRU data)
- Soft Mode:
- automatically switched by the EEC - mostly caused by invalid Total Air Pressure from ADIRUs (have 15 seconds before EEC goes soft (or into soft mode)
- engine thrust can be LESS THAN OR MORE THAN NORMAL
- (the last sensed flight conditions are locked into the EEC resulting in a thrust shortfall or exceedence the QRH will direct to make it a hard failure - 1SP)
Interesting note:
*** loss of EITHER DEU results in a loss of signal to BOTH EECs - this causes BOTH EECs to revert to ALT mode in order to prevent the engines from operating on a single source of data
