As protein helps for the growth and repair of muscles. Whereas, carbohydrates release energy over a long period of time which isn’t required for a weight lifter as they use a short burst of energy and power.

As carbohydrates cause the body to release small amounts of energy for a long period of time. Adding on to this, their body needs a lot of energy for a long period of time they are performing. However, they remain at a constant pace.

Body gets dehydrated. Resulting in fatigue, dizziness and sickness. This will cause a decrease in the performance played in the sport.
