3 Energy Systems

A

Aerobic System - A breakdown of glucose, free fatty acids and protein for ATP release, release of energy at sub maximal intensities (less than 85%)
- ATPPC is the fastest breakdown of the chemical fuel PC (No Oxygen). It’s a short fuel only lasting 0-7 seconds. This is an explosive movement, with very use of the fuel, and a long recovery. 95-100% heart rate
Anaerobic capacity is the breakdown of glucose without oxygen. This is an incomplete breakdown of glucose due to no oxygen, thus a build up of lactic acid occurs.
Lactate Inflection Point (L.I.P.) is where the production of lactate exceeds removal. This occurs when performing at greater then 85% of max heart rate, and the muscle contractions have to slow down.
