Name the disorder when you have excess somatotrophiin in children and when you have excess somatotropin in adults. State the fundamental reason for the differences between children an adults for excess somatotrophin.
Excess Somatotrophin
- In CHILDREN = GIGANTISM
- In ADULTS = ACROMEGALY
In adults, the growth plates of the long bones have fused so there is no longer a possibility of an increase in height but you still get other effects
