What govern the employees compensation program?
PD 626
is a government program designed to provide a compensation package to public and private sector employees or their dependents in the event of work-related sickness, injury, or death.
Employees’ Compensation Program
The following are the workers covered under the ECP:
- Private employee who is compulsory member of the SSS including the OFW.
- Govertment Employees who are members of GSIS
- Active self employed members of SSS.
A sickness, injury, disability or death resulting from an employment accident is compensable if:
- The employee is injured at the workplace;
- The employee is performing official functions; and
- If the injury is sustained elsewhere, the employee is executing an order for the
employer.
No compensation will be allowed to an employee or the dependents if the injury, sickness, disability or death is due to:
- Drunkenness;
- Willful intention to injure or kill himself or another; or
- Notorious negligence.
The conditions for the compensability of COVID-19 are the following
- There must be a direct connection between the offending agent or event and the worker based on epidemiologic criteria and occupational risk (g., healthcare workers, screening and contact tracing teams, etc.);
- The tasks assigned to the worker would require frequent face-to-face and close proximity interactions with the public or with confirmed cases for healthcare workers;
- Transmission occurred in the workplace; or
- Transmission occurred while commuting to and from work.

Under the ECP, it is the disability, or the incapacity to work, which is being compensated and not the illness or the injury.
Loss Income Benefit
Give the three types of loss of income benefits
- Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
- Permanent Total Disability (PTD)
- Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)
Discuss the type of loss under Temporary total disability
TTD mean a disability that prevents an employee from working from a period not exceeding 120 days. He is entitled to received 90% of his employee’s average daily salary.
Discuss the type of loss under permanent total disability.
A benefit will be given to employee who loss his sight of both eyes, loss and function of both limbs, brain injury resulting to insanity or imbecility. The amount will be given to this loss will based on his average daily salary credit. A supplemental pension of 1K per month
Discuss the type of loss under permanent partial disability
disabilities that result in physical loss (amputation) or functional loss of a body part. The number of monthly pensions is based on the corresponding body part loss or functional loss, as provided under Article 193 of PD No. 626, as amended, and EC schedule of Compensation. A supplemental of 1K pension per month.
It includes reimbursement of the cost of medicines for the illness or injury, payment to providers of medical care, hospital care, surgical expenses, and the costs of rehabilitation appliances and supplies. The medical services are limited to ward services of hospitals duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH).

Persons with work-related disabilities (PWRD) with an approved EC TTD, PPD or PTD are qualified to avail of the benefits and services under the Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang May Kapansanan, or KaGabay Program.
Rehabilitation Services/KaGabay Program (Katulong at Gabay sa Manggagawang May Kapansanan)
The beneficiaries of the deceased employee are entitled to an income benefit if the employee died as a result of a work-related injury or sickness. They shall receive an income benefit paid at the beginning of the month of death of the member and will continue for as long as they are entitled thereto.
Death Benefit
