Hyperventilation
Sit in a comfortable upright position, talk in a calming voice, tell them to breath into cupped hands or a paper bag, vitals checked, oxygen if needed
Allergic reaction
Identify rash, monitor vitals, prepare antihistamine if necessary, cpr if necessary, refer patient to consultation
hyperglycemia
Ask about insulin and the last time they ate, have them self administer insulin if needed, 911/cpr if necessary, monitor vitals
Fainting (syncope)
Position in sepine/subsepine position, tilt head to open airway, loosen binding clothes, if oxygen is under 94 administer oxygen, ammonia inhalant, monitor vitals and call 911 if needed
Postural hypotension
Subsepine position (to get blood to brain), establish an airway, slowly move to an upright position, monitor vitals, if unresponsive call 911
Angina attack
Call 911, semi upright position, monitor vitals, ready nitroglycerin, administer oxygen if needed
Acute myocardial infarction (heart attack)
Call 911, semi upright position, monitor vitals, oxygen if needed, ready aspirin or nitroglycerin if needed, give cpr if unconscious
cerebrovascular accident (stroke)
call 911, semi sitting position with head elevated, monitor vitals, cpr if unconscious
hyperventilation
upright comfortable position, calming voice, tell them to breath into cupped hands, monitor vitals, oxygen if needed
asthma
call for assistance, position in upright comfortable position, have patient self medicate with inhaler, administer oxygen if needed, monitor vitals
allergic reaction (rash)
identify area, monitor vitals, antihistamine if required, cpr if required, refer patient for medical consultation
anaphylaxis
call 911, position patient in supine position, monitor vitals, start cpr, prepare epi pen, administer oxygen if needed
generalized seizure (grand mal)
call 911, remove all dental instruments from nearby and sit in position in supine position, protect patient from self injury, prepare anticonvulsant (diazepam), cpr if necessary, monitor vitals
partial seizure
comfortable position, monitor vitals, refer patient to medical consultant
hypoglycemia
Ask about insulin and the last time they ate, give glucose or high carb food/drink, 911/cpr if necessary, monitor vitals
