What is a feudal system?
When the upper class had authority and political power, whereas the lower class lived and worked long hours on the land.

Very little free time ; only participated in popular recreation occasionally.
Widespread illiteracy, so rules were simple and basic.
Harsh society, recreation was harsh and aggressive.
Limited communications & transport, recreation only played locally.
Give 4 characteristics of the upper class
- Wealthier, specialist equipment and facilities
- High moral code, recreation lacked violence
- Educated, rules were complex
- More free time, can train more often
State the differences between mob football and real tennis
Mob football reflects true popular recreation, real tennis doesn’t - only upper class. Mob football is played occasionally, real tennis is played regularly.
Mob footballs rules are agreed locally, real tennis has written rules.
Mob football is played in natural environment, real tennis played in facilities.
