Most commonly used suture. Good for autopsies. Made by passing the ligature from side to side beneath the incision. Good for autopsies.
Baseball Suture
Leaves an unsightly ridge. Leak proof-Needle is fed through the loop each time. Passed around both sides from the outside.
Lock Suture
Used to close long incisions. The needle is passed through both sides of the incision.
Whip (roll) Suture
Also called draw or inversion. Used to gather and turn in excess tissue. Stitches are made parallel to the incision. Good for carotid or cranial autopsy. Follows the pattern of intradermal stitches above the skin
Worm Suture
Stitch good for Surgical drains and devices, Punctures and Trocar punctures
āNā Stitch
Used to secure margins of holes. It is a series of small stitches around the circumference and then Drawn tight to close
Purse String Suture
