Method of dividing the abdomen where a horizontal line is drawn from left to right through the umbilicus and a vertical line if drawn down the center of the torso establishing 4 quadrants for cavity embalming.
4 Region Plan
Method of dividing the abdomen into 9 sections for cavity embalming consisting of the right hypochondriac, epigastric, left hypochondriac, right lumbar, umbilicus, left lumbar, right inguinal, hypogastric, and the left inguinal.
9 Region Plan
A region on either side of the abdomen beneath the cartilages of the false ribs, beside the epigastric, and above the lumbar region.
Hypochondriac
Lying upon or over the stomach. Of, relating to, supplying, or draining the anterior walls of the abdomen. Of or relating to the abdominal region.
Epigastric
Relating to the lower part of the back and section on either side of the umbilicus for cavity embalming.
Lumbar
On either side of the hypogastric region. Anatomical structure forming the base of the femoral triangle; extends from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubic tubercle.
Inguinal
Medical term for the naval and center for the 9 region plan.
Umbilicus
Relating to the part of the central abdomen which is situated below the region of the stomach.
Hypogastric
