Elements in the Universe Flashcards
the sun, earth, earth, atmosphere, and organisms all have…
oxygen
What does it mean when people say everything is made of stardust?
People say this because a huge star burst about five billion years ago. Gas and dust spread all over space. The stardust cloud was made of 90 naturally occurring elements. As millions of years passed, gravity pulled the chunks of gas and dust together, creating the Solar System. Everything including the Sun, planets, and everything in them came from the space cloud. Therefore, everything is made of stardust.
Why are the elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen important to life on Earth?
Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen are important to life on Earth because they make up more than 90% of living things.
