A substance that is made up of atoms that have the same number of protons and can not be split into somhting simpler.

Can not be broken down into anything simpler

Pure substance made of two or more elements chemcially combined.

Compounds can not be sepearated by physical methods like using a magnet

What is a mixture?

Answer 3

Combination of two or more subtsances that are not chemically combined

Can be a mixture of elemnst and/ or compounds

What are ways to seperate a mixture?

Answer 4

• Magnet (if a metal is mixed with a non metal)
• Water (if on substance is less dense or more dense then the other)
• Reacting with an acid (if one reacts with an acid and the other doesnt)

If iron a sulfur mixed to form a mixture they can be spertated by a magnet because iron is magnetic but sulfur is not, or they can be seperated by water because iron is more dense that water so sinks but sulfur is less dense so floats, or reacting with an acid like hydrochloric acid the iron would react with teh hydrochloric acid to form hydrgon gas but the sulfur will not react.
