What are the elements and process of communication?
Sender, Message, Encoding, Channel, Receiver, Decoding, and feedback.
What is the sender?
The one who initiates or sends the message. After creating an idea, the sender must transmit it in an understandable manner.
What is the message?
This is the information that is intended to be communicated. It is the content that is to be conveyed.
What is encoding?
An action done by the sender to transform ideas into verbal or non verbal mediums. It refers to how your message is formed and transmitted.
What is the channel?
It is the means in which a message is transmitted. These can be through face to face interactions through words, or through phones and other devices that are used to deliver messages.
What is the receiver?
This is the recipient of the message. This can be either a group or a person.
What is decoding?
It is the action done by the recipient to interpret and understand a message. It relies on the receivers ability to understand and process the message.
What is feedback?
It is the response or reaction of the receiver. Having feedback ensures that the message was properly encoded and decoded.
What is the difference between noise and context?
Noise refers to any kind of interference that affects the message being properly communicated, while context is the situation and location where the communication takes place.
What are the external factors to communication?
Noise and context.
What are types of noise?
Physical, physiological, and psychological.
What is physical noise?
These are the external disturbances that affect how a message is transmitted and received.
What is physiological noise?
These are the physical conditions or impairments that hinder communication. These include hunger, headache, hearing loss, etc…
What is psychological noise?
These are the internal conditions or emotional states that hinder communication.
What is physical setting?
It refers to the location where communication is taking place.
