Q

What occurs during electrolysis?

A

the cations(positive ions) are attracted towards the cathode where they gain e- and are reduced to form neutral atoms.

the anions are attracted towards the anode where they lose e- and are oxidised to neutral atoms

electrons flow from negative to positive electrode
