Using an ammeter connected in series
What is a conventional current?
Where the current flows from positive to negative
What does it mean when something is connected in parallel?
The components are connected across eachother
What is the energy transfer in a cell?
It is transferred from chemical energy to electrical energy
What is electrical power?
It is the rate of energy transfer and is measured in watts
What is a fuse?
It is a very thin wire that is used in a mains plug for saftey
How do you know which fuse to use?
You have to calculate the normal operating current for an appliance
What devices are used in homes to save money and energy?
compact fluorescent bulbs, motion-activated lights, home insulation and standby detection devices
What is the payback time?
It is the number of years it takes to get back the initial cost of the installation from savings on energy bills
