A

The 2013 and 2018 reviews were scrapped so electoral data form 2000 was used to draw up 2019 electoral boundaries - it led to only 236 constituencies with electorates within 5% of the average

16
Q

What is a plurality vote?

A

Win the most amount of votes

17
Q

Why does FPTP not produce proportional national results?

A

As Mps only need a plurality vote to win a seat the percentage of seats in parliament is often different to the percentage of votes nationally

18
Q

A
  • Conservatives won 56% seats but 43.6% of vote share
  • Labour won 31.2% of seats but 32.2% of vote share
  • Liberal democrats 7.3% seats but 11.5% of vote share
  • Green won 0.15% seats in parliament but 2.7% of vote share
  • SNP won 7.3% of seats but 3.9% of vote share
