Elbow Joint Flashcards
What are the articulations of the elbow joint
Trochlear notch of ulna and trochlea of humerus
Head of radius and capitulum of humerus
What are the most clinically important bursa in the elbow joint
Intratendinous
Subtendinous
Subcutaneous
Where is the intratendinous bursa
Within the tendon of the triceps brachii
Where is the subtendinous bursa
Between the olecranon and the tendon of the triceps brachii
What does the subtendinous bursa do
Reduces friction between olecranon and tendon of triceps brachii during extension and flexion of the arm
Where is the subcutaneous burs
Between the olecranon and the overlying connective tissue
Where does the radial collateral ligament extend
From the lateral epicondyle to blend in with the annular ligament of the radius
Where does the ulnar collateral ligament extend
From the medial epicondyle to the coronoid process and olecranon of the ulna
What provides arterial supply to the elbow joint
Cubital anastomosis
What nerves innervate the elbow joint
Median, musculocutaneous and radial nerves anteriorly
Ulnar nerve posteriorly
