Lateral Tendinopathy

A

Tennis Elbow
Common overuse injury to the lateral side of the elbow.
Pain occurs where tendon (usually extensor carpi radialis brevis) attaches to bone (just above joint line on lateral side).
Most people recover within a year.
Tenderness, Pain in forearm/hand, Discomfort gripping/flexing/extending, Stiffness in the morning.
Physio uses pain provoking tests e.g., grip strength.

Medial Tendinopathy

A

Golfer’s Elbow
Affects Medial Common Flexor tendon
Caused by forces to medial elbow during wrist flexion and forearm pronation.
Swelling, Pain, Loss of strength, Difficulty gripping, Reduced exercise tolerance.
