hwo long must mood be eleavted to diagnose mania?
at least 1 week
(exception if behaviour so extreme that by day 5 police have had to take person to hospital)
what feature is common in mania?
change in clothes/ attracted to brighter colours
what is the term for a constantly elevated mood?
hyperthymia
what is cyclothymia?
cycling between mood states without ever experiencing the extremes of the spectrum
ealrier onset/longer duration has what kind of clincial outcome?
predicts poorer outcome
what is the differnece between biploar I and II?
Bipolar I: mania + depressive epsiodes
Bipolar II: hypomania + mild depressive episodes
