what are some investigations fro delirium?
cognitive testing
U&Es
B12 and Folate
thyroid function
Blood glucose
what is the mnagement of delirium?
identify and treat underlying cause
manage the environment
what is anterograde amnesia?
difficulty acquiring new material and remebering event since onset of injury/illness
what is retrograde amnesia?
difficulty in remembering infrmation prior to the onset of illness/injury
what are some tests used to assess memory?

clock drawign test
MoCA
ACE III
what will be seen on CT/MRI in alzheimers?
normal
what will be seen on CT/MRI in vascular dementia?
mod/severe small vessel disease
multiple lunar infarcts
what is SPECT?
Single Photon Emission CT
what will be seen on SPECT in vascular dementia?
patchy reduction in tracer uptake throughout brain
what are three variants of frontotemporal dementia?
behavioural variant
primary prgressive aphasia
semantic dementia
what will be seen on CT/MRI and SPECT in frontotemporal dementia?
CT/MRI- trontotemporal atrophy
SPECT- frontotemporal reduction in tracer uptake
what is Parkinsons Plus Syndrome?
dementia with Lewy Bodies
to diagnose parkinsons plus you need two of which criteria:
viual hallucinations
fluctuating cognition (delirium like)
REM sleeping disroder (sleep walking)
Parkinsonism
Postive DaT scan
what does a DaT scan detect?
presence of dopamine active trasnporters in the brain
SPECT scan is most useful in identifying which dementia?
frontotemporal dementia
