Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin - Fireman's Lift Flashcards
Like the bend in the road second person narrative
Intimate directed at her mother
Dome cathedral = to tree
I was standing beside you looking up through the big tree of the cupula
Spierling Vortx like they were competing with each other to race to the other world
The Virgin was spiralling to heaven
The verb’s show the physical exertion that was lifting her up to heaven
She also feels her mother is being pulled away
Nurses = angelic
Teams of angelic arms were heaving, supporting, crowding her
The strain in the tree is like that of the angels/nurses
In its natural cycle, the tree has fruit together and the fruit will fall and life goes on. Dying as part of the circle of life
The tree keeps on giving even though it’s under pressure just as angels kept heaving and lifting
The crick in the branch loaded with fruit
Her mother dying
As she passed through their hands
When she sees this fresco she is reminded her of the nurses helped her mother
We saw them lifting her, the pillars of their arms
A snooze melody
Entry to heaven was successful
Final physical price they have to pay
The muscles clung and shifted for a final purchase together
