Effect Of Exercise Flashcards
What happens when your muscles contract
You need more respiration to take place
i.e more o2 and glucose, quicker co2 release
What does exercise do
Causes increased heart/breathing rate
What happens when arteries dilate
More blood to muscles which increase oxygen/glucose supply, so co2 is removed quicker
What are your everyday muscle movements made possible by?
AEROBIC respiration
If the heart rate is increased what happens
The blood can’t supply O2 quick enough
What is different about ANAEROBIC respiration
It doesn’t involve much oxygen and is less efficient
Converts glucose into lactic acid and energy
What is oxygen debt
Lactic acid needs to be got rid of, so it reacts with O2 to form co2 and water
What is energy from respiration use to do?
Make muscles contract
