→ better career opportunities, insulation against unemployment or poverty, produce a skilled labour force - The forms and functions of education are increasing and diversifying
→ relied on for physical education, media literacy, substance awareness, the environment, sex education, etc
→ responsible for all kinds of aspects of our lives

- An increase in the lowest level of education required to enter a particular field of employment
→ going to university to get a good job
→ rise of credentialism = rise in overqualification
