The coldest biome on earth and covers 1/5 of the planet. Temperatures can reach -50 degrees F.
Grasslands
Large rolling terrains of grasses, flowers, and herbs. It is very cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
Taiga
The largest biome on earth. It has long, cold winters and short, mild, and wet summers.
Desert
The desert covers 1/5 of the planet. Antarctica is the largest desert. Deserts are both hot and cold with little rainfall.
Tropical rainforest
They are located close to the equator and are wet and warm all year. The animals here have adaptions that allow them to live in trees.

Organisms that make their own food are producers. Plants are a common producer.
Consumer
These are organisms which receive energy by consuming other organisms.
Decomposers
These are organisms that break down dead or decaying organisms.

A model showing the interconnecting food chains.
Food chain
A linear network of links of a food web starting from producer and ending at apex predator.
Herbivore
An organism that eats plants.
Carnivore
An organism that eats meat.
Omnivore
An organism that eats both plants and meat.
