What is an individual?
Single living organism
What is a population?
Group of organisms interacting and living together in the same place at the same time
What is a habitat?
Area where organisms live
What is a community?
All of the population and all the species interacting with each other in an ecosystem
What is an ecosystem?
Place containing community and environment
Which interact with each other
What are some of the Biotic (Living) factors?
competition - intraspecific - same pecies
interspecific - different species for food mates habitat etc
diseases
food supply
predation
what are some abiotic factors?
availability of oxygen and water
pollution
temperature
light intensity
what factors can cause population change?
pollution -eg: logging
climate change eg: increase in water temp
what is mutualism?
close relationship between two organisms where they both gain benefit
what is parasitism?
when one of the two organisms in the relationship gain the benefit
eg: fleas feed on blood and the organism dont gain anything
what is biomass?
mass of a living organism
what are the primary producers?
photosynthetic organisms
what are the processes in the carbon cycle?
photosynthesis -removes CO2
respiration - gives out CO2
decomposition - releases co2 as decomposers organic material to release co2 sometimes it can be trapped
combustion -releases co2
What is the process of the water cycle?
transpiration - water evaporated in plant and leaves via stomata
evaporation - from surface bodiesof water like lakes and seas
condensation - when the water vapour condense to form clouds
precipitaion - water in clouds frm rain ice sleet and this goes into land and water systems
plants take up water via osmosis
animals excrete water via sweat,exhaled air,faeces
