Effects of ageing
A
An ageing population has resulted from increased life expectancy and a reduced birth rate. 1 in 3 babies born today will reach the age of 100 and the old age dependency ratio has increased, This will lead to an increase in retirement age. This then puts pressure on healthcare as pension costs = higher taxation of workers, employment as high and levels of retirement can cause gaps in some skills
