ECG’s Flashcards
How to calculate the rate
Count the number of R waves in 6 secs (30 lge squares)
(1 lge square = to 0.2 sec)
Then multiply x 10 ( better for irregular rates)
Or count the number of large squares between 2 consecutive R waves divide by 300 (better for regular)
Left Axis deviation
Positive lead 1 and negative in AVF
Right axis deviation
Negative lead 1 and positive AVF
P wave
0.08 sec or 2 small square
PR interval
0.12-0.20 sec or 3-5 small squares
QRS complex
Max 0.12 secs or 3 small squares
QT interval
Less than half processing R-R interval
Cardiac conduction system
SA node - AV node- bundle of His- perkinje fibres
Inverted or flattened T wave
Indicates myocardial ischemia
Peaked T- waves
Indicates hyperkalaemia
