Measures the action potentials of the heart.

How does ECG work
A
Electrodes are placed on the body which detect electrical impulses. A machine amplifies, records and displays.

Waves in ECG
A
P waves - the atria contract
QRS wave - The ventricles contract
T wave - Repolarisation of the ventricles as they relax and recover.

Pacemaker
A
The beating of the heart is controlled by small cluster of small cells called the pacemaker. This produces an electrical impulse which causes the heart muscles contract.
