What are the key features of Anorexia Nervosa?
-Restriction of energy intake, leading to significant weight loss in the context of age, sex, developmental trajectory and physical health
-Pathological fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
-Disturbances in perception of their own body or shape
What are the key features of Bulimia Nervosa?
-Recurrent episodes of binge eating
-Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviours in order to prevent weight gain
-At least once a week for 3 months
-Self-evaluation is influenced by body shape and weight
What characterized binge eating?
-Eating, within a certain time frame, a large amount of food
-A sense of lack of control during the episode
What are some compensatory behaviours?
Vomiting
Laxatives
Exercising
Fasting
What are the subtypes of Anorexia Nervosa?
-Binge-eating/purging type
-Purging only
What are the key features of Binge-Eating Disorder?
-Recurrent episodes of binge eating
-Associated with 3 or more behaviours
-Marked by distress regarding binge eating
-Not use of compensatory behaviours
What are the behaviours associated with Binge-Eating Disorder?
-Eating faster than normal
-Eating till uncomfortable full
-Eating large amounts of food when not feeling hungry
-Eating alone, or feeling embarrasses by how much one eat
-Feeling disgusted with oneself after binging, depressed or guilt.
What are the key features of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder?
-Eating or feeding disturbances (lack of interest, sensory characteristics)
-Not meeting appropriate nutritional needs
-1 or more following symptoms:
1.Significant weight loss
2.Significant nutritional deficiency
3.Dependence on enteral feeding or supplements
4.Interference with psychosocial functioning
What are the key features of Pica?
-Eating of non-nutritive, nonfood substances for at least a month
-Inappropriate to the developmental level of the person
-Can happen with some mental disorders or medical conditions
What are the key features of Rumination Disorder?
-Repeated regurgitation of food over at least 1 month.
-The food may be re-chewed, re-swallowed or spit out
-Not attributed to medical conditions
-Does not happen exclusively during another intake disorder
