What are the clinical signs of anorexia?
dry skin, brittle hair, nails, hair fall out, constipation, hypothermia, decreased HR BP, BMI<16, Lanugo, loss of appetite, Russell’s signs, dental caries
What are the complications for Anorexia?
Bradycardia, Hypotension, Orthostatic BP/HR, Arrhythmias, Peripheral neuropathy, Acrocyanosis, Leukopenia, Abnormal thyroid functioning, Osteoporosis, Electrolyte imbalance

What are the criterias to be diagnosed with Anorexia?
- Maintain body weight less than 85%of expected age, height
- Extreme influence of body weight or shape on one’s self-perception
- Denial of seriousness of current extremely low body weight
- Absence of 3 consecutive menstrual cycles
What are the physical criterias for admission?
Weight loss<85% below ideal inability to gain weight w/ outpatient treatment Temp <36C HR<40bpm Severe dehydration Hypokalemia
What are the Psychiatric criterias for admission for a Anorexic Patient?
Risk for suicide
Failure to comply w/ treatment contract
Severe depression or other psychiatric disorder that would require hospitalization
Family crisis or dysfunction
What is Bulimia Nervosa?
repeating episodes of binge eating followed by compensatory behaviors such as:
Vomiting, Laxatives, Diuretics, Fasting, Excessive exercise
What are the criterias to be diagnosed with Bulimia?
- Evidence or recurrent episodes of binge eating occuring on the average of at least 2 times per wk over a period of 3months
- Consumption of food in amounts greater in periods of time than others would consume in that specific period of time
- Feelings of lack of control over eating over the binge period
- Recurrent use of inappropriate measures to compensate for binge eating and prevent wt gain
What are the complication of bulimia eating disorder?
Erosion of teeth, Cardia arrest, Electro imbalance, dehydration, Loss of dental arch, esophageal tears, severe gastro pain-gastric dilation
What are the Bulimia assessments?
- Medical stabilization

Describe a Binge Eating Disorder.
Repeated episodes of binge eating, after experience significant stress
Not use compensatory behaviors
may be associated w/ mood disorder
