Why was Muhammad an orphan?
He was an orphan because his mum died when he was 6 and his father passed before he was born.
Who is Abu Talib?
Abu Talib is his uncle who looks after him and teaches him to be a good merchant as he grows up.
What does Al-amin mean?
Trustworthy one- Muhammad
Who is Kadijah?
Muhammad’s wife who was a business woman. She was trusted and ethical and taught Muhammad lots of things.
What is the night of power?
Muhammad was on a retreat to escape poor attitudes of merchants and polytheism and Angle Jibril comes down to him and asks him to read and Muhammad starts reading despite being illiterate. This was a miracle.
What was the year of sorrow?
-There was a social ban for 3 years
-Kadijah died
-Abu Talib died- protection lost- makes him vulnerable
-Goes to Ta’if to spread Islam message but was rejected- told angels to have mercy on people: no retribution
What were the peoples reaction to Muhammad’s message?
They were angry as he was telling them everything they believed was wrong and that there is just one God. They saw it as Muhammad attacking their way of life and they were annoyed as there were no more idols and less money. They were also afraid as they thought God may punish them if what he was preaching was true.
What did slaves react to Muhammad’s message?
They were happy as there was a message of equality. They were also hopeful as it promises them a good afterlife and justice. They also found it helpful and surprising as a merchant was helping them and giving them faith.
What is the Hijrah?
The journey from Mecca to Madinah.
Why did Muhammad go on the Hijrah?
He went because God told him to and he was escaping the murder plot from Quraysh, spreading the message to others.
