What is a Store and forward model ?

A

The sender and recipient of the email do not have to be online at the same time
When one person sends a message it is stored on the email server
It waits in store until the recipient signs in, at which point the server will forward the message. This is knows as the store and forward model.

A

Emails are delivered extremely fast when compared to traditional post.
Emails can be sent 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Webmail means emails can be sent and received from any computer, anywhere in the world, that has an Internet connection.

What are the disadvantages of using E-Mail?

A

Viruses are easily spread via email attachments
Phishing - sending an email to a user falsely claiming to be a legitimate company to scam the user into providing information, The details will then be used for identity theft.
Spam - unsolicited email, ie junk mail.

A

Most email software is designed to use SMTP for communication purposes when sending email, and It only works for outgoing messages.
