Zhi Ke + Jie Geng

A
  1. Chest oppression and distention or chest Bi due to accumulation of Phlegm and Qi stagnation
  2. Epigastric distention and difficult defecation due to disturbance of ascending and descending

Zhi Ke: enters the chest; flows down- descending fxn

Jie Geng: enters chest; goes upward-ascending fxn

Gua Lou + Xie Bai

A
  1. Chest Bi, cardiac disease due to turbid Phlegm blocking the Qi and Yang of the chest
  2. Constipation due to fluid dryness of the LI or to Qi Stagnation

Gua Lou: Opens chest; moves phlegm

Xie Bai: Opens chest; regulates Qi

Mu Xiang + Bing Lang

A
  1. No appetite, abdominal distention/pain, difficult defecation due to food retention in ST and intestine
  2. Dsentery or diarrhea with tenesmus and abdominal pain due to Qi stagnation
  3. Constipation or difficult defecation due to Qi stagnation

Mu Xiang: prevents stagnation in tonifying herbs

Bing Lang: kills parasite, digestive
