ADHD
+ Subtypes
A) Persistent pattern on inattention and/or hyperactivity, that interferes with functioning or development
-> Inattention: 6 of the 9 symptoms have to be present for 6 months (5 in adults)
-> Hyperactivity: 6/9 symptoms have to be present for 6 months (5 in adults)
B) Several Symptoms are present before the age of 12
C) Has to affect more than one setting
Subtypes:
1) Inattentive
2) Hyperactive
3) Combined
PTSD
A) Exposure to (or threat of) violence to yourself or a significant other, or repeatedly experiencing traumatic events. (Only counts if exposure is repeated, work related, or involuntary.)
B) At least one intrusive symptom post-event, which is spontaneous, or induced by associated stimuli
-> Nightmares, dissociations, flashbacks etc.
C) Persistent avoidance of associated stimuli
D) Negative alteration in cognition and/or mood (Includes dissociative amnesia)
E) High arousal or irritability
F) Duration is longer than 1 Month
Social Anxiety Disorder
A) Fear or Anxiety of certain social situations where negative experiences like embarrassment are possible
B) Fear of being negatively evaluated
C) Social situations consistently provoke fear/anxiety
D) Social situations are endured under great discomfort, or avoided
E) Fear is disproportionate to objective threat
F) At least 6 months
Specific Type: Performance only
Panic Disorder
A) Recurrent and sudden panic attacks defined by many physiological and psychological symptoms
B) Minimum one attack has been followed by either:
1. Persistent concern about future attacks
2. Maladaptive change in behavior to compensate for the feared attack
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A) Excessive Anxiety and worry occurring the majority of the time for 6 months
B) Difficulties controlling the concerns
C) At least 3 have been present during the past 6 months:
Restlessness, Fatigue, problems concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, sleep disturbances
OCD
A) Presence of compulsions (behaviors) or obsessions (thoughts)
B) Obsessions or compulsions are time-consuming or otherwise cause distress/impairment
Hoarding Disorder
A) Persistent difficulties parting with belongings
B) Is due to perceived need to save the items and distress by the thought of discarding them
C) Cluttering affects use of living space; cleaning is only done due to third party involvement
Specific Cases: Excessive Acquisition; Good Insight; poor Insight; Absent insight/Delusional Beliefs
General Definition of Personality Disorder
- Personality pattern must deviate substantially from expectations based on environment, age, etc.
- pattern must be enduring and present by adulthood
- For under 18-year-olds, the pattern must have been stable for one year
Major Depressive Disorder
A) 5 or more during 2-week period:
-> depressed mood; anhedonia; weight or appetite fluctuations; sleeping problems; psychomotor agitation or retardation; fatigue; feelings of worthlessness or guilt; decreased concentration or decisiveness; thoughts of death and/or suicide
E) There has never been a manic or hypomanic episode
Manic Episode
A) Distinct period of abnormally elevated or irritable mood and increased energy, lasting at least one week
B) During the episode, at least 3 are present:
-> inflated self-esteem; decreased need for sleep; talkativeness; flight of ideas; distractibility; increased goal-directed energy or psychomotor agitation; high-risk behavior
Bipolar II
- Major Depressive Episode was or is present
- Hypomanic Episode was or is present
- No manic Episodes
Anorexia Nervosa
A) Restriction of calorie intake leading to significantly reduced body weight
B) Intense fear of gaining weight and behavior that prevents this from happening
C) Disturbance in the way one’s own weight and/or shape is perceived and underestimation of seriousness of low BMI
- Subtypes:
1. Restricting Type
2. Binge-eating/Purging Type
3. Severity according to BMI
Bulimia Nervosa
A) Recurrent Episodes of bingeing characterized by:
- eating unusually large amounts of food in a short time
- sense of lack of control over eating behavior
B) Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviors
C) Bingeing and purging occur at least once per week on average for 3 months.
D) Self-evaluation is heavily influenced by body weight and shape
E) Disturbance does not exclusively occur during episodes of anorexia
Schizophrenia
A) At least 2, present for 1 Month:
- Delusions; Hallucinations; Disorganized Speech; Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior; negative symptoms
B) Since the onset, the level of functioning has gone down
C) Continuous signs of disturbance for 6 months
D) No major depressive or manic episode has occurred in active-phase and if so, only for a short time
Delusional Disorder
A) Presence of 1 or more delusions over 1 month
B) No criterion A of schizophrenia
C) Apart from delusions, functioning is not impaired and behavior is not obviously odd
D) If mood disturbances occur, they are short
